![]() An Overview! I have to stop and give thanks for the events planned and unplanned that were very much apart of my personal and artistic journey in 2013. As I look back on my accomplishments for this year I realized I am now eight months into eating and living a more holistic lifestyle. Eating whole foods, drinking more water, reducing the amount of preservatives and processed foods in my diet. The surprise was, it really wasn't so difficult to make the changes, once I became more conscious of how what i consume affected my general well being. On my 2013 artistic journey I met some truly gifted and talented artist. These encounters and experience were most inspiring and contributed immensely to my growth personally and as an artist. The trip to Las Terranes engulf me with the beauty and artistry of the land. Vibrant art was everywhere, on the street, in the marketplace and in the road side shops. I was awestruck by the majesty and creativity of the ocean the beaches and the mountainside. I have to give praise to God, the "Creator of All." The Spoletto Arts Festival held annually in Charleston, South Carolina was a week of music, art, theatre, music, dancing and food. My most memorable experience was spending an afternoon with an artist I have admired for years, Jonathan Green. We talked about art ,low country history, the possibly of my sculptures coming to show in Charleston and his new series of paintings. He talked about his " Rice Project" and the impact that he hoped it would have in the low country community. The College of the Building Arts showcased the creation of a mandala, including the ceremonial prayer and chanting to bless the process of creating a mandala. before drawing a line. The monks then completed an intracately designed mandala in 7 days. Wow!! ![]() One morning in June a gallery hanging and set-up. A tedious process to make sure the display is perfect and showcases the guest artist works. As we stood back to visually check the placements, it was exciting to see a gallery exhibit come together. ![]() My sculptures, "Yoga", "Almost Eight", "Swan Song" and "Eyed" were showcased this fall at the Arts Barn. Three other area artist was showcased with me, Domenic Cicala (Photograph), Melissa Miller(Oils) and JoEllen Murphy(Pastel). In October I celebrated a birthday in Porto Alegre, Brazil. A melting pot of different cultures. The influence of the Germans, Italian , Portuguese and French has infused this modern day city with a diverse culture . I had the pleasure of visiting with 2D and 3D artist. The city view and country side reminded me to view everything with an artistic eye . The architecture the food, chocolate, wine and most of all the art. All I see helps me stretch as an artist. ![]() The "Winter Glow Show " 2013 at the Black Rock Center, I showcase a new sculpture , "Wisdom". She was well received by the gallery guest. " Wisdom" a green and red alabaster stone won Best In Show - The People's Choice in Sculpture. What a way to close out 2013!! This has been an exciting year! I learned to stay open and excepting of all the exciting things that came my way. Some were challenges some gifts.
